Fake Writers

If James Frey's 'A Million Little Pieces,' controversy had not come along, this might have been the biggest writing related scandal. Is Nasdijj really a Native American? Was his poignant memoir about the death of his son Tommy Nothing Fancy true? Is he actually a White writer impersonating a native American, concocting painful, gut-wrenching stories about his life? Is he too a fake memoirist?

Do Frey and Nasdijj represent something more, something larger than just their alleged lies? Do they point to something about the increasingly commercial publishing industry?

For more on this fascinating story read this article in the LA Weekly.
