Authors and Advances

With hundreds of writers plugging away, barely making a living, writing for the love of it, it's always news when some writer gets a big money deal. And, most often I find, the dollar signs obscure all other conversation about the book itself.

Here's Vikram Chandra with a million dollar deal. More people know about that than the name of the book, what it's about, what the writings' like. I find it sad in a way and I wonder what Chandra thinks about it himself. When there is so much hype, a true and honest answer is hard to find.

Here's a link to one of his interviews: Indian Express
