Vampires in Asia
Halloween was a month ago, so I decided to tell one of my little cousins about Asian vampires. Not very many second-generation kids know this, but there are vampire stories in Asia.
There is an ancient Indian legend about vampires. It was first written in Sanskrit, and was later translated into English by Sir Richard Burton in the late 1800s, who titled it Vikram and the Vampire.
I remember that there used to be a TV series about this legend back in the mid-80s. I wonder if anyone else other than me remembers it.
In any case, I was thinking how important it is for us first generation people to pass on our desi fairytales and legends on to the younger generation.
