Mohanraj Receives Illinos Arts Council Prose Fellowship

I just received word that I've been awarded an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship, which carries a nice chunk of cash with it. I'm very pleased!

I wanted to take this opportunity to remind all the writers among you to apply for your local arts grants. If you live in the U.S., most states offer such awards, I believe, and some major cities do as well. Googling should find the info pretty easily, and the applications are generally free and fairly straightforward. The one I filled out took perhaps ten minutes total to write, print, and mail. Put it in your calendar to try annually -- you never know, you might get lucky! :-)

For more info about the Illinois fellowships in particular, visit their website. You need to be a resident of Illinois for at least a year, a US citizen or permanent resident, and not currently enrolled in a degree program.
