New Political Writing Prize 2005

Entries are invited for the Barry Amiel and Norman Melburn Trust/New Statesman Prize for New Political Writing on the subject:

Do women's rights remain the privilege of the developed world?

Entrants must be *under 30 on Friday 29 April 2005*, which is the closing date for entries. There will be a prize of 1,000 pounds for the winning essay, which will be published in the New Statesman, and prizes of 500 pounds and 250 pounds for those placed second and third.

The judges will be:

*Clare Short*, MP and former Secretary of State for International Development;
*Kate Allen*, director of Amnesty International UK;
*Nina Fishman*, professor of history at the University of Westminster;
*Mike Rustin* of the Barry Amiel and Norman Melburn Trust
*Peter Wilby*, editor of the /New Statesman/.
