Sri Lanka - Tsunami Writing

Thirty thousand Sri Lankans were killed in the Boxing Day disaster. Three months on, novelist Louise Doughty asks the island's writers whether they can play a part in the process of recovery.

I found this a fascinating piece.

Agreed; fascinating article.

One thing I found interesting: it points to "a new Sri Lankan website, http://writeclique.net/ , set up by the British Council to promote Sri Lankan writing in English." I wonder if DesiLit and WriteClique might have useful things to say to each other; I don't quite know what form such an interaction might take, but it seems like there's some potential there.
