Kahaani -- NY fiction forum, 3/18

The Southern Asian Institute is sponsoring Kahaani - a forum to recognize, encourage and honor fiction writing in the sub-continental languages bound together by a shared history of literary and cultural tradition.

Event: Kahaani: A Forum for Fiction Writers
Date: 18 March
Place: Room 1134, International Affairs Building, 420 West 118th
street, 11th Floor, Columbia University, New York
Time: 11 am to 4 p.m (with breaks for coffee and lunch)

Even as it merges more fully into the academic and corporate mainstream, an expanding sub-continental Diaspora continues to look for stories that portray the familiar in the language of its origin.

As a trend in Diaspora literature, Kahaani promises to be an expression of a literary urge to portray the familiar in the language of its origin. As a forum to expand its outreach, Kahaani is also an act of community service for the gifted writers and discerning readership.

On Friday, 18 March, Kahaani will bring together writers and scholars from John Hopkins, Yale, New York University and, of course, Columbia to read their stories and exchange their experiments in literature.

Kahaani is open to established writers and new talent with a demonstrated gift for fiction writing. Artists wishing to explore audio-visual potentials of literary fiction in the shared sub-continental languages are welcome.
