building support for South Asian and diasporic writing
DesiLit is a non-profit organization, inviting tax-deductible memberships from supporters of South Asian and diaspora literature.

Membership fees in 2006 will primarily go to supporting our new online literary magazine, scheduled to be published biannually in spring and fall. All funds raised will go directly to magazine costs (hosting expenses and paying contributors); the magazine is staffed entirely by volunteers. Funds will also go to supporting a bimonthly reading series in Chicago.

DesiLit members will receive invitations to exclusive events with authors (such as a private brunch with author Indu Sundaresan in Chicago in January), discounted admission to DesiLit events across the country, as well as the happy knowledge that they are directly contributing to the growth and cultivation of South Asian and diaspora literature.

DesiLit is in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) status; in the interim, the SLF, a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is serving as a fiscal agent for DesiLit.

Thank you for your generous contribution in support of South Asian and diaspora authors and their writing!
