Sumita Lall

Born and raised in Canada, Sumita moved to Ventura, California with her husband Eric in 1998. She has continued to live in the same city while finishing up her Ph.D. in English Literature from UCSB and starting her career as a community college professor at Ventura College where she teaches composition and literature classes. Writing short stories and poetry has been her sustenance throughout graduate school, the tenure process, and a hectic teaching load that can sometimes feel overwhelming. She wrote "The Fruit Basket" in 2008 as part of a collection of short stories she hopes to complete over the next year.
